You could plan an alcohol-free picnic with the family, or arrange a trip to the cinema, the shops or your local park. You could take the dogs out for a walk somewhere new. Or you could head out for a bike ride around the area. Exercise is a great option to distract you from drinking, and it helps you feel even better too.
Give yourself days off
Cut back a little each day, and then go without alcohol completely on some days. You’ll reduce your dependency on drink, and start building up a tolerance. Swap a night-out for a fun, alcohol-free night-in with friends.
Avoid binge drinking
Don’t cram all your drinks into a single session or night out. That will cause more damage to your physical and mental health. Spread your drinking over the week or month, with days off in between to give yourself a break.
